Frequently asked questions

Is Dimitri really free?

Yes. Dimitri is paid for by ads that appear below answers from time to time. There's no paid plan.

Do I need an account?

No. Dimitri creates an anonymous account in your browser automatically. You never give us a name, email or password.

Why can't I see my earlier chats?

Your chats belong to the browser you used. A private window, a different browser or device, or clearing your browser data starts a new account, and chats from the old one can't be reached from it.

Which AI model answers me?

It depends on the message. Each kind of task goes to the model that did best on it in our tests. We don't show model names because the lineup changes as better models come out. How it works explains the testing.

Can I choose the model?

No. Choosing well is our job. If an answer isn't good enough, use Try again: it asks a stronger model to answer instead.

Are my conversations used to train AI?

No. We don't train models on your conversations, and the AI providers we use don't either. The privacy policy explains how we make sure of that.

Who can see my conversations?

They're stored in our database and sent to the AI providers that answer them. Each account can read only its own chats. The privacy policy has the details, including the list of providers.

How do I delete a conversation?

Open the chat menu and use the trash icon next to the conversation. It's deleted permanently. Accounts that haven't been used for 12 months are deleted automatically, along with their chats.

Why did I see an ad?

Ads keep Dimitri free. An ad can appear below an answer after it finishes, every few answers, and it's always labeled.

Are ads based on what I write?

No. Your conversations are never sent to advertisers. Google, which serves the ads, may personalize them using cookies from your browsing elsewhere. You can turn that off in Google's Ads Settings.

Can Dimitri search the web?

Yes, when a question needs current information. The sources are linked below the answer.

Can I trust the answers?

Often, but not always. AI can be confidently wrong. Check anything important, and don't use Dimitri in place of a doctor, lawyer or financial adviser.

Is there a usage limit?

Yes. There are limits on how quickly and how much one person can send, to stop abuse and keep the service free. Most people never reach them.

Who can use Dimitri?

Anyone 18 or older.
